This activity is being performed as part of a larger project between NIST and Eurostep to investigate suitability of OMG‘s MDA for use by ISO TC184-SC4’s standards, notably the family of STEP standards (ISO 10303).

SysML is a graphical modeling language. AP233, formally ISO 10303-233: Systems engineering, is a data exchange format. The diagram below illustrates the topical areas where there is common data between AP233 and SysML.

At the December 2008 meeting in Santa Clara, the Systems Engineering DSIG decided to create a working group to explore the synergies between SysML and [Modelica (www.modelica.org)]. This Wiki-page is used to communicate among the working group members.

The SysML QUDV (Quantities, Units, Dimensions and Values) modelLibrary is specified in a UML/SysML class/block diagram. In order to generalize its potential usage and alignment with other standardization efforts concerning quantities and units, it is of interest to verify that the QUDV model can also be represented in the form of an ontology using a formal ontology definition language.
