OMG
Data Distribution Service (DDS) Brief
This paper describes the problems DDS data-centric messaging technology was designed to address, including flexible deployment, performance and scalability, robust architecture, and secure communication. It was written from the perspective of a US Navy user, but the problems and solutions it describes are not specific to that environment.

Dr. Dobb's New Series on The Data Distribution Service for Real-Time Systems
Dr. Dobb's has started a new series on The Data Distribution Service for Real-Time Systems.
Part 1 of the series focuses on what DDS is, why it represents an important technology you should learn about, and how it is being used today. Part 1 of the series is available at: http://www.drdobbs.com/architect/222900238
The series is authored by Angelo Corsaro, PrismTech OpenSplice DDS CTO and co-chair of the OMG Data Distribution Service (DDS) Special Interest Group.
Submission deadline for OMG Real-time, Embedded and Enterprise-Scale Time-Critical Systems Workshop
Monday 1st February 2010 is the submission deadline for the OMG Real-time, Embedded and Enterprise-Scale Time-Critical Systems Workshop. The goal of the workshop is to identify the state of the art and disseminate current best practice in real-time and embedded distributed computing, for the benefit of standards users, researchers and implementers. For more details of the workshop, see the Call for Presentations: http://www.omg.org/news/meetings/realtime2010/index.htm DDS users are particularly encouraged to submit; this workshop is one of the major annual gatherings of DDS users and implementers. The abstract submission form is here: http://www.omg.org/abstracts
