Sig Activities
The current activities of the Data Distribution SIG are:
- Maintenance of the DDS SIG Portal
Organization of technology and interoperability demonstrations. We organized 2 interoperability demonstration in 2009, each involving 3 vendors, 2 interoperability demos in 2010, each involving 4 vendors, and one in 2011 involving 5 vendors (RTI, PrismTech, TwinOaks, Gallium Visual Systems, and IBM).
Serve as a focus point for the evolution of the DDS standard family. This involves surveying the user-based to determine the most interesting directions and contributing to the creation of RFPs. Several new RFPs have been issued and have become standards as a result of this work. In 2009 and 2010 we adopted 3 new specifications: Extensible Types for DDS, ISO-C++ language binding for DDS and Java5 Language binding for DDS. We also issued two additional RFPs: Web-Enabled DDS and DDS Security which we expect will become standard in 2011.
Evangelizing the DDS technology. Primarily via the creation of materials (whitepapers, tutorials) on DDS. The main venues for the tutorials are the OMG technical meetings and the OMG Real-Time Workshop
- Coordination of the creation of a catalog of success stories.
