====== Proposed list of MVF related concepts ====== * **Term** – text used to designate or denote a notion or thing of interest (usually using a word or phrase) in a natural language. * **Definition** – a string used to describe a notion or thing of interest in a natural language. [alternative from ISO1087: representation of a concept by a descriptive statement which serves to differentiate it from related concepts.][alternative paraphrased from EdB: grammatical structure that characterizes a concept/notion or thing.] * **Vocabulary** – A set of Terms, Synonyms, and Definitions (typically for an area of interest, community of interest, or both) for a single natural language. * **MultilingualDictionary** [or MultilingualVocabulary or MultilingualTerminology or Multicommunity...] – A set of Vocabularies that denote and describe a particular set of notions or things in two or more natural languages. * **MVFRepository** – A run time repository, local to an MVF enabled system that may simultaneously contain multiple MultilingualDictionaries and/or Vocabularies to use as resources while authoring an MVF Vocabulary or MultilingualDictionary. * **TermEntry** – entity in a terminology data system (or terminology artifact) for a Term plus metadata and other relations that a Term may have with other entities in a data system or artifact. * **MVFEntry** – entity or proxy in an MVF based data system (or terminology artifact) for a concept/notion or thing of interest that may be used to collect or connect metadata and/or related entities within a terminology data system or artifact. [this definition should be made less obtuse] * **Artifact** – A human or machine readable thing that can be used to present, communicate, or exchange information. Types of terminological artifacts include Vocabularies and MultilingualDictionaries.
