Think of National Building Information Model Standard (NBIMS).  The finished product is guidance that references other existing, revising, or pending standards that facilitate the sharing of model-centric information.  The DEIX-SF provides industry-wide agreements on standards or conventions to enable a universal exchange of digital artifacts between disciplines, buyers, and suppliers in a global supply chain.
