Brief Biography / CV

Manas Bajaj,

Dr Manas Bajaj is the Co-Founder and Chief Systems Officer at Intercax.

His background is in MBSE, CAD/CAE, Simulations, PLM, and Software/ALM. He has led multiple government and commercial R&D projects in a wide range of industries such as defense, aerospace, automotive, transportation, energy, consumer goods, electronics, and manufacturing. He leads the development of the Syndeia product (www.intercax.com/syndeia), a MBSE platform that brings together systems modeling, CAD/CAE, PLM, ALM, data, simulations, and visualization for developing complex systems.

He is a contributor to the OMG SysML (Systems Modeling Language) and ISO-10303 (STEP) standards. He is a coauthor of the OCSMP (SysML) certification program (OMG), and has co-developed a “SysML and MBSE” course that has been attended by over 3500 engineers since 2008. Dr. Bajaj received his PhD (2008) and MS (2003) in Mechanical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA, and B.Tech. in Ocean Engineering and Naval Architecture (2001) from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, India

Position Statement

The complexity in modern systems is growing at an unprecedented pace. This complexity arises from a range of factors—increasing number and types of components, increasing types of interfaces and interactions between components, and with the operating environment (system-of-systems, internetof-things). Architecture, design, development, and operations of modern systems requires organizations to work with a variety of models, software tools, and repositories, such as SysML, PLM, ALM, Databases, Simulations, and Project Management from different vendors. To enable MBE/MBSE in its truest form, we envision a Total System Model - a digital blueprint/graph of the system that provides a unique representation of the system and evolves across its lifecycle. The Total System Model is a federation of version-managed models/model elements across variety of disciplines, modeling tools, and repositories. System engineers, mechanical/electrical designers, analysts, and program managers can now visualize, analyze, and trace across this unique model of the system that brings all the discipline-specific models together. Our flagship product, Syndeia, is pursuing this vision and provides services to: (1) connect models and repositories using standards (e.g. STEP, JDBC, REST, JSON, OSLC) and native APIs, (2) build/manage the Total System Model, (3) track, compare, and sync models, (4) perform parametric and traceability analyses, and (5) visualize the Total System Model.
