Significant parameter for periodic and aperiodic real-time 
critical communications. This represents the maximum separation 
between two [[ddsf:public:guidebook:06_append:glossary:t:topic|topic]] updates.  The [[ddsf:public:guidebook:06_append:glossary:d:data_writer]] indicates that 
the application commits to write a new value at least once every 
deadline period. The [[ddsf:public:guidebook:06_append:glossary:d:data_reader|Data Readers]] are notified by the [[ddsf:public:guidebook:06_append:glossary:d:data_distribution_service_dds]] engine 
when the Deadline [[ddsf:public:guidebook:06_append:glossary:q:quality_of_service_qos_policies]] contract is violated.
