Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM)

Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM) is a proprietary Microsoft technology that allows com software to communicate across a network. DCOM is enhanced with COM applications to facilitate remote procedural calls and a Distributed Computing Environment (DCE) dedicated to Windows application and platform support.
