A [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:p:platform]] has a [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:c:coi|community of interest (CoI)]] that is responsible for the DIDO infrastructure that resides on each [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:n:node]] in the [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:n:node_network]]. Direct involvement within a [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:p:platform|platform]] covers the gamut from observers, to passive users of the software, and significant contributors to the community or de facto standards (see: [[dido:public:ra:1.2_views:3_taxonomic:3_node_tax:start]]. As a general rule, [[dido:public:ra:1.2_views:1_stakeholder:2_domain | domains]], [[dido:public:ra:1.2_views:1_stakeholder:3_ecosystem | ecosystems]], and [[dido:public:ra:1.2_views:1_stakeholder:4_ecosphere | ecospheres]] participate in platform communities rather than sponsor them. For the most part, platforms are already existing, self-contained communities with well established governance. Common CoI activities are bug tracking, collaboration and voting on resolutions of problems and future directions.
