**Deadline QoS** is a significant parameter for periodic and aperiodic real-time critical communications. This represents the maximum separation between two [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:t:topic|topic]] updates.  The [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:d:data_writer]] indicates that the [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:a:application|application]] commits to write a new value at least once every 
deadline period. The [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:d:data_reader|Data Readers]] are notified by the [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:d:dds]] engine when the Deadline [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:q:qos]] contract is violated.
