**Distributed Ledger** is a type of database that are spread across multiple sites, countries or institutions. Distributed ledger data can be either “permissioned” or “[[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:u:unpermissioned_ledgers|unpermissioned]]” to control who can view it.
