**Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS)** is a variant of the standard web [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:h:http]] that adds a layer of security on the data in transit through a [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:s:ssl]] or [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:t:tls]] [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:p:protocol]] connection.

HTTPS enables encrypted communication and secure connection between a remote user (i.e., [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:c:client]] and the primary web [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:s:server]].
