**Media Access Control (MAC)** is a sublayer of the [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:d:datalinklayer]] in the seven-layer [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:o:osi]]. MAC is responsible for the transmission of data packets to and from the [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:n:nic]], and to and from another remotely shared channel.
