**RabbitMQ** is an open-source [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:m:msg_broker]] software (sometimes called [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:m:mom]]) that originally implemented the [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:a:amqp]] and has since been extended with a [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:p:plug_in]] architecture to support [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:s:stomp]], [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.b_stds:tech:oasis:mqtt]], and other [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:p:protocol | Protocols]].

Written in Erlang, the **RabbitMQ** [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:s:server]] is built on the [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:o:open_telecom_platform]] framework for clustering and [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:f:failover]]. [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:c:client]] libraries to [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:i:interface]] with the broker are available for all major programming languages. The source code is released under the Mozilla Public License.
