**Simple Payment Verification (SPV)** is a technique described in Satoshi Nakamoto's paper allowing a lightweight [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:c:client|client]] to verify that a transaction is included in the [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:b:bitcoin|Bitcoin]] [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:b:blockchain|blockchain]], without downloading the entire blockchain. The client just needs to download the headers rather than the heavier full blocks.
