====== 2.3.3.1.2.4 Masternode ====== [[dido:public:ra:1.2_views:3_taxonomic:3_node_tax:full:archival|return to Archival Node]] A **masternode**(( "Blockchain Nodes: An In-Depth Guide", [[https://nodes.com/]] )) is combination of a [[dido:public:ra:1.2_views:3_taxonomic:3_node_tax:full:archival:2_staking| staking node]] using a [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:p:proof_of_stake_pos]] [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:n:node_network|node network]], which relies on the weight of the stake (( See [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:w:weight_of_network]] )), and a [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:s:server|server]]. The requirements for a successful staking node are a server, a stable [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:i:internet|internet]] connection, a minimum number of [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:c:coins|coins]] used for staking, and time to mine the server. Unlike the staking node, the masternode does not wait for randomly assigned blocks of transactions to validate but is instead constantly engaged: obtaining rewards and constantly paying out a certain number of [[dido:public:ra:xapend:xapend.a_glossary:t:tokens|tokens]] (i.e., coins) (thus the minimum stake). (( "What's the difference between staking and masternode?", darkangel11, 03 February 2018, [[https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2874856.0]] )) Characteristics of Masternodes(( "Masternode vs Staking", Solaris Support Center, 26 June 2019, [[https://solaris.helpsite.com/articles/24861-masternode-vs-staking ]] )) * Higher rewards than a simple staking node * Ability to participate in votes on proposals * Hosting does not have to be local * Higher cost and resource requirements than staking node * More complexity * Requires an initial stake /**=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- /* To add a discussion page to this page, comment out the line that says ~~DISCUSSION:off~~ */ ~~DISCUSSION:on|Outstanding Issues~~ ~~DISCUSSION:off~~
