de facto Standard

A de facto standard is something that is used so widely that it is considered a standard for a given application although it has no official status. Some examples are libraries, components, or systems that are offered by a proprietary corporation that have not gone through a sdo. Examples of de facto standards are Ethereum, Windows, Java, Log4J, etc.
