Lightweight nodes keep a shallow copy of blockchain transactions1) and are used in day-to-day crypto operations. Within the cryptocurrency world, lightweight nodes are also referred to as simple payment verification (SPV) nodes or wallet nodes. Lightweight nodes communicate with the ledger through full nodes.2)
